Michael is an athlete, writer and speaker with a background in business.
He has represented England and Great Britain as an ultrarunner. He ran 155 miles in 24 hours around an athletics track at a race in London. On the strength of that performance, he was selected to run for Great Britain at the 24-Hour World Championships in Albi, France. At 50, he was the oldest athlete ever to make their debut for Great Britain.
Michael reached an elite level in sport after a successful career in business, which gives him a rare perspective. He has founded a number of technology businesses, and before that he was chairman of the GSMA, the global trade organisation for the mobile telephony industry, with members in over a hundred countries. He began his working life in corporate law, becoming head legal counsel of a multibillion-dollar group of companies. He is a highly experienced speaker and has been a media spokesperson on a global stage.
